England men’s under-21 team were on Saturday crowned European champions for the first time in 39 years with a 1-0 victory over Spain in Georgia.
Curtis Jones’ only goal of the game was all that the English side needed to win the much coveted European trophy.
Also, England goalkeeper James Trafford, saved the day for the young three lions after saving a stoppage time penalty to deny the Spanish side an opportunity to drag the game into extra time.
The victory for Lee Carsley’s men is the third time England have lifted the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, finally following on from back-to-back victories in 1982 and 1984.
