Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command fired tear gas on the #EndSARS protesters holding a two-year remembrance rally at the Lekki Toll Gate on Thursday.
In a series of video making rounds online and sighted by Punch Metro, officers of the Nigerian Police Force shot teargas to disperse the youths commemorating the memorial of the October 20, 2020, event.
The memorial rally was organized to mark the second anniversary of the #EndSARS movement.
A Twitter user, Samzy @SamzyVG, giving an account of the incident via video, wrote, “Nigerian Police Have Started Shooting Tear Gas at Lekki toll Gate!!”
Another Twitter user, Peter Obi Grassroots Mobilization. @PO_GrassRootM, also documenting the account in a video wrote, “The lawless Nigerian police now attacking and shooting young Nigerians at lekki toll gate for #EndSARSMemorial2 this is unacceptable. We want the world to see and know that Nigerian Police are the worst in the whole wide world. #Lekkitollgate #LekkiMassacre @CNN @AishaYesufu.”
