The Nigerian Bar Association, has slammed the two agencies, Department of State Service and Nigerian Correctional Service over their officers involvement in misconduct at a Lagos High Court on Tuesday on who to take custody of the embattled ex-governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
This criticism was made by the President of NBA, Yakubu Maikyau in a statement on Tuesday.
Punch Metro reported a fight ensued between the Nigerian secret service and NCoS at the Lagos High Court premises.
While condemning the scenario, Maikyau said the incident is evidence of lack of discipline, professionalism and coordination among Nigerian service agencies.
He called on the DSS and NCoS to issue disciplinary measure on the officers involved in the chaos.
He added that Nigeria’s security institutions need a complete overhaul to ensure professionalism and synergy.
“The NBA calls on the two agencies to take immediate disciplinary measures against the officers involved in this disgraceful conduct. In addition, there is an urgent need for a complete overhaul of the institutions and a total reorientation of the personnel to achieve professionalism and ensure synergy,” he said.
