The Ekiti State Executive Council has given approval to over N4 billion for a series of developmental projects across the state.
The PUNCH reported that this was disclosed on Sunday in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, by the Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun.
Olatunbosun’s statement outlined several key approvals, including the green light for a N2 billion contract for the construction of a multi-purpose facility at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado Ekiti.
The project, awarded to Messrs Axial Nigeria Limited, is designed to be completed within a 30-month timeframe.
The proposed building will feature four wards or wings, each with a 20-bed capacity, aimed at improving patient care services.
“This facility will also include a pharmacy, patient waiting areas, consulting rooms, lecture and seminar rooms, offices, a reception area, payment points, a conference room, a medical library, and adequate parking spaces,” Olatunbosun confirmed.
In addition to the hospital project, the council approved N416.8 million for furnishing and fittings at the state cargo airport.
This expenditure is intended to boost the comfort and operational efficiency for both passengers and airport staff.
Furthermore, the council approved N634.1 million for the purchase of waste management equipment. The funds will be used to procure two Sinotruck Howo 4×2 Hook Arm Garbage trucks and two Sinotruck 4×2 Garbage compactors, aimed at bolstering the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority’s efforts to keep the capital clean and free from hazardous waste.
Another key initiative approved by the council is the implementation of a biometric system for the state’s workforce, further enhancing operational efficiency within the government.
