The Ekiti State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming the state into a hub for investors by developing infrastructure and enhancing its connectivity.
According to The PUNCH, the Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, on Saturday, explained that the government is making strategic moves to promote mechanised agriculture as part of its broader agenda to boost the state’s economic potential.
Olatunbosun made these remarks in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, following a two-day tour of completed and ongoing projects led by the State Executive Council and accompanied by media professionals.
The tour aimed to showcase the Biodun Oyebanji administration’s progress in critical sectors and provide firsthand insight into the government’s efforts.
“We want you to see firsthand where the taxpayers’ money is being invested, especially in terms of the quality and selection of projects that are having a tangible impact on the lives of our people,” Olatunbosun stated.
He emphasized the government’s dual focus on agricultural innovation and infrastructure, aiming to position Ekiti as a center for industrial development and a prime destination for investors.
Olatunbosun also highlighted the role of the media in ensuring that the public is informed about the government’s initiatives, addressing potential misconceptions, and providing context on the policies driving these projects.
In addition, the Commissioner for Works, Sola Adebayo, stressed that the government has directed contractors responsible for road projects to adhere strictly to quality standards, especially the state’s stone-based construction policy.
Adebayo cautioned against any deviation from regulated construction practices, underscoring the importance of timely completion as per contractual agreements.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Adebimpe Aderiye, pointed out that the administration’s focus is not limited to infrastructure but extends to human capital development.
Aderiye noted that over 2,000 indigent students across the state’s 16 local government areas have benefitted from the state’s conditional cash transfer program, designed to support their educational needs.
The completed projects inspected during the tour included the Model Smart School in Ijan Ekiti, the renovation of the dining hall and the construction of a therapy room at the Special School in Ido Ekiti, a 100-capacity hostel at Command Secondary School in Isan Ekiti, and upgraded facilities such as the ICT Centre and Catering Department at Government Technical College in Igbara Odo.
