Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on Nigerian Muslims to seize the opportunity of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to pray for the nation.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, the Governor extended his congratulations to Muslims in Delta State and across Nigeria during this festive period.
Oborevwori encouraged Muslims to emulate Prophet Mohammed by embracing the principles of selflessness showcased by the Holy Prophet.
He highlighted that Eid-el-Kabir is a time for sacrifice, love, harmony, and spending quality time with family.
He urged Nigerians, irrespective of their religious or ethnic backgrounds, to maintain peaceful coexistence and show love and care for one another.
Emphasizing the importance of prayers for the nation’s progress and peace, the Governor assured that security agencies are well-prepared to ensure a peaceful Sallah celebration in the state. He also pledged continued collaboration with the Muslim community to advance the state’s development.
Oborevwori stated, “On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters all over the country on the occasion of the 2024 Eid-el-Kabir.
“We must use the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to reflect further and pray for our country to overcome the many problems confronting it.
“As we work to solidify the reigns of administration throughout the nation, let’s continue to live in harmony and cooperate with all tiers of government.
“I implore everyone of you to ensure that, as we rejoice, let us all learn to be our brothers’ keeper by promoting peaceful coexistence amongst people of different tribes and religious beliefs.”
