The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday said there’s it does not have a cyber crime department.
This followed a a publication that the cyber rime unit if the EFCC that the mobile sim card 5G service has started, it reads” ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL CRIME COMMISSION (EFCC)
“Announcement for Public notice. This is to inform all the citizens that the Mobile Sim Card 5G service has started.
“This is something you already know, some miscreants of cybercrime will call your mobile and tell you to updateyour Sim card from 4G to 5G and you will get an OTP.
” PLEASE, DO NOT provide the OTP sent to you.
“If you tell them the OTP number sent by them, they will transfer all the money in your Bank Account to their own account, so please don’t tell if any stranger asks for OTP.
” Please share this information with others.

The EFCC however on its official Twitter handle enjoined Nigerians to be careful of the activities of the fraudsters.
It reads “Do not be deceived, no department like Cyber Crime exist at the EFCC.
“Be circumspect of the activities of fraudsters who devise strategies to scam the unsuspecting public.
“For those behind this fake news, be assured, your days are numbered!”.
