The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Corporate Affairs Commission have reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying the fight against financial crimes and fostering a more transparent business environment in Nigeria.
This renewed partnership was announced following a courtesy visit by EFCC Chairman, Olanipekun Olukoyede, to the CAC headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
The meeting underscored the agencies’ shared goal of enhancing regulatory compliance and ensuring ethical business practices across the country.
Olukoyede expressed appreciation for the CAC’s continued support and swift responses to EFCC’s requests, emphasizing that both organizations play crucial roles in promoting good governance and accountability.
“We have resolved to use the instrumentality of fighting corruption to stimulate the economy and create a conducive environment for investors,” he stated.
“It is important that everyone plays by the rules to ensure a business-friendly atmosphere.”
CAC’s Registrar-General, Hussaini Magaji, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of knowledge and information sharing between the two institutions.
He assured that the CAC is fully aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s 7-point economic transformation agenda, which seeks to revamp the nation’s financial landscape.
“The strengthened partnership between the EFCC and CAC is expected to foster transparency, combat financial crimes, and promote ease of doing business in Nigeria,” Magaji noted.
He further disclosed that the CAC has integrated artificial intelligence into its company registration process, making it more efficient and globally competitive.
“Our intelligent registration portal is designed to ensure that companies are registered within one hour, just as it is done at the UK Companies House,” he said, adding that the initiative aligns with international best practices.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both agencies, including EFCC Special Investigation Officer Chris Odofin, as well as key CAC personnel such as Director of Human Resources, Olayemi Oyeniyi; Director of Customer Service, Deinma Anga; Director of Incorporated Trustees, Duke Ukaga; Special Adviser to the Registrar-General, Justine Nidiya; and Director of Public Affairs, Dominic Inyang.
