Veteran rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem is set to undergo a transplant in Lagos State after suffering kidney failure, PUNCH Metro reports.
The ‘Nigeria Jaga Jaga’ crooner’s family called on Nigerians for support and prayers in a statement released on his Instagram page on Wednesday.
According to the statement signed by his colleague and associate, Myke Pam, Abdulkareem who has been on dialysis has been offered a kidney by a family member.
The procedure will occur later in July 2022, the statement added.
The statement read in part, “The Nigerian Hip Hop Czar, Social Crusader and Rights Activist, Eedris Abdulkareem of ‘Nigeria Jaga Jaga’ fame, needs the sincere and unalloyed prayers of all Nigerians and his fans around the world in this hour of his travails.
“The date for the transplant surgery is now fixed for the end of this month, July, and all arrangements and texts have been concluded, including certifying the compatibility status of the gracious donor (a family member).
“Therefore, on behalf of the Abdulkareem family and Lakreem Entertainment Inc., we most sincerely ask for prayers and good wishes for Eedris, as we face these challenging times.”
The release also stated that Abdulkareem is “full of life and in high spirit as he is bustling to go” and will return to the music stage “in due course.”
Popular Nigerian rapper, MI Abaga also asked Nigerians to donate and help Eedris recover.
A tweet on his official Twitter account read: “I received the sad news yesterday that Nigerian music Icon @EedrisOriginal Eedris Abdul Kareem has been battling with Kidney failure and needs our help.”
