The Department of State Services has returned the passport of the Nigeria Labour Congress President, Joe Ajaero, following its confiscation earlier this week.
According to The PUNCH, the passport’s release was confirmed on Tuesday, facilitated by Abubakar Marshall of Falana Chambers.
Counsel to the NLC, Femi Falana said, “Ajaero’s passport was released today through my colleague, Abubakar Marshall. It has been handed over to him.”
Ajaero’s passport had been seized by the DSS after his arrest on Monday while he was en route to the United Kingdom for union-related business.
He was detained and interrogated for over 15 hours before being released later that night.
The NLC had earlier issued a strong ultimatum, warning the government that they would take action in solidarity with their leader if he was not released.
