The Kano State Police Command has advised residents to disregard misleading information circulating on social media about the dethroned 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, leading the Friday prayers at the Central Mosque.
State Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, clarified in a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday that Emir Bayero will attend the Friday prayers at the mosque located within the Nasarawa Palace, where he currently resides.
The commissioner also assured that the police, along with other state security agencies, will ensure comprehensive security at the Emir’s Palace, where Emir Muhammad Sanusi II is expected to lead the Jummah prayers.
”The police urge the general public to disregard the false reports and misinformation circulating on social media and go about their activities without fear of molestation or intimidation.
”The police will continue to provide necessary security to ensure that will enable residents observe their Friday congressional prayers peacefully without threats to their lives and property,” he said.
He called on the public to provide credible information regarding the activities of suspicious individuals to facilitate prompt security measures in the state.
