Biafra agitator and self-proclaimed disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the separatist group, Indigenous People of Biafra, Simon Ekpa, has told the Igbo migrants in Niger Republic, to ‘denounce’ Nigeria, and pledge their allegiance to ‘Biafra,’ to avoid being killed.
Ekpa made this disclosure while reacting to the current situation in Niger, through a post on his Twitter page on Friday.
It would be recalled that the Economic Community of West African States, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, had on Thursday, given a standby matching order to the military arm of the organization, to force the ECOWAS order on the military group in Niger, who ousted the President of the country, Mohamed Bazoum from power, through a coup plot, and declared a military takeover of government in the country, with the leader of the group, General Abdouramane Tchiani, as the new president.
Meanwhile, the military junta in the country had earlier cut diplomatic ties with Nigeria, Togo France and the US, after the efforts of the ECOWAS and calls from other countries to reinstate the ousted President failed.
However, in a reaction to ECOWAS intervention on Thursday, the Nigerian embassy in Niamey was set ablaze, barely 24 hours after an order of military standby force to restore constitutional order in the country, was given by ECOWAS.
Reacting to the development, Ekpa on his Twitter handle wrote: “BRGIE @BiafraRGIE BREAKING
“We are calling on all Biafrans residing in Niger Republic to immediately denounce Nigeria and start introducing yourselves as Biafrans to avoid being killed.”
