The operatives of the Delta State Police Command have reportedly recoverd a locally made pistol from two suspects who fled during a routine check of a tricycle while on visibility patrol in Warri, the capital of Delta State.
The State Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass, while confirming the report in a statement signed by the Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said the incident occured along African Church Road, behind Saudi police post.
The spokesman explained the Police team had stopped the commercial tricycle with registration number BUR 240 VC conveying two male passengers.
“When the team accosted the tricycle for a routine search, the two men jumped out and escaped,” he stated, saying that a search of the abandoned tricycle led to the recovery of the incriminating item.
“We have begun a manhunt for the fleeing suspects,” Edafe stated.
