The Nigeria Police Force, Delta State command, has arrested a 24-year-old man, Joseph Vincent.
According to the information gathered, the 24-year-old man was arrested by the members of ‘Dragon 18 and 29’ of the command, during a stop-and-search routine duty.
The incident happened along Jeremi/Iwhrekan road in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State when the operatives intercepted a tricycle with Reg. No. GBB 022 UN, driven by one Isreal Sibito ‘m’ 58yrs.
The tricycle was said to have been occupied by three female and one male passenger when it was stopped during the search operation.
On citing the police, Vincent was alleged to have jumped off the tricycle and run into a nearby bush in an attempt to escape arrest.
However, The members of the operative gave him a quick chase, which eventually led to his arrest, and subsequently, his search led to the discovery of the two local pistols, in his possession.
Confirming the incident through a statement signed and made available to the newsmen, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said, “When the search was conducted on him, two (2) locally fabricated berretta pistols were recovered from him.”
However, the command’s spokesperson revealed that an “Investigation is ongoing,” to unravel the suspect’s mission of having the two locally made pistols, in his possession.
Assuring the general public of its commitment to protecting lives and properties, DSP Edafe said the command is always ready to combat crimes in the state, thereby solicited for the people’s support, by exercising patience when they are being subjected to stop-and-search by police operatives, noting that it is for the communal good of every Deltans and to get rid of any form of criminal activities, within the state.
