The ruler of Idjerhe kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, His Majesty, King Obukowho Monday Whiskey Udurhie 1, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to expand the scope of the crude oil pipeline surveillance contract.
This is in a bid to strengthen economic security and create more employment opportunities in the Niger Delta region,
The monarch emphasized the need to discourage locals from supporting foreign elements and security forces involved in the vandalization of national assets and facilities.
In a statement personally signed by the monarch and released on July 16th, 2023, King Obukowho highlighted the recent arrest of a foreign bunkering vessel by Tantita Security Limited, owned by High Government Owezide Ekpemukpolo, also known as ‘Tompolo’.
The successful operation demonstrated the capability and patriotic dedication of Tantita Security Limited to protecting the nation’s economic well-being.
The monarch expressed concern over the adverse effects of illegal activities and vandalism on the national economy and the Niger Delta environment.
Recognizing the risks undertaken by Tantita in confronting pipeline vandalism and environmental pollution, the traditional ruler urged the Federal Government to reciprocate their efforts by expanding their job scope.
This expansion would contribute to the restoration of the Nigerian economy through the hard work of these patriotic Niger Delta security operatives.
According to the statement, the government should not only provide proper funding to meet Tantita’s financial needs but also expand the scope of their work.
The monarch stressed the importance of fulfilling corporate social and economic responsibilities by regularly funding the project to prevent economic saboteurs from undermining its success.
Furthermore, King Obukowho emphasized the need to reward those who work tirelessly to protect national assets.
By allowing them to benefit from their labor, others will be encouraged to follow their patriotic path.
