Media personality, Ossai Success, has voiced criticism of popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, over his choice of attire in his pre-wedding pictures.
Success noted that Davido should have worn the traditional attire of his fiancée, Chioma, who is from the Igbo region.
In a statement shared on social media, Success expressed his views, stating, “It’s an error because, as a man, when you are marrying a woman, it’s paramount to respect her culture by dressing in her traditional attire.
“I was surprised to see Davido’s pre-wedding photos where he wore Yoruba attire despite marrying an Igbo woman, Chioma. As someone who values cultural heritage, I believe it’s important to respect and honor each other’s traditions, especially on such special occasions.”
He noted that in many African cultures, “dressing in the bride’s cultural attire is a sign of respect and unity.
He, however, said “I am happy for Davido and Chioma, but I just have to speak the truth, even though I will be attending their wedding.”
Davido has unveiled pre-wedding photos with his fiancée, Chioma, in anticipation of their wedding on Tuesday.
Davido, dressed in Yoruba attire alongside his fiancée, posted their pre-wedding pictures on Instagram with the hashtag #CHIVIDO2024.
Last week, he officially announced his impending marriage to Chioma Rowland.
According to reports, Chioma and Davido’s traditional wedding is set to take place in Lagos on June 25, 2024.
