Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has publicly expressed appreciation for the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Umar Abba, after initially criticizing him.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms on Monday, Davido admitted that emotions had influenced his earlier stance, preventing him from recognizing the commissioner’s efforts in upholding law and order.
“In memories of the innocent souls lost, human emotions overwhelmed me and many of my friends around. We did not know the Commissioner of Police had been having sleepless nights alongside other commanders. At this point, the contributions of the police commissioner were not fully appreciated by me,” he wrote.
Describing his previous remarks as a “grave oversight,” the singer further stated: “I want to declare that his support for rule of law and protection of peace in Osun State is hereby acknowledged and appreciated.”
His statement follows an earlier outburst in which he accused the police commissioner of political interference in the state’s affairs. However, he has now reconsidered his position, acknowledging the role of law enforcement in maintaining stability.
Osun State has recently been a focal point of political and security discussions, with Governor Ademola Adeleke alleging that former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola was attempting to create unrest with the support of security agencies.
