Brazilian footballer, Dani Alves, has been arrested by Spanish police over a sexual assault allegation.
According to Reuters, the 39-year-old has been detained by Barcelona police.
Also, a spokesperson of the local police said that the detained footballer will appear before a judge later on Friday.
On December 30, Alves was charged with groping a lady against her will in a nightclub in Barcelona.
Local Spanish media outlet, Diaro Sport reported that Dani Alves is being accused of sexual assault by a woman who claims he assaulted and slapped her in a nightclub restroom.
“Dani Alves allegedly refused to allow the woman leave the restroom, pulled up her dress, demanded that she refer to him as his “little b*tch,” forced her to sit on top of him, tossed her to the ground, coerced her into doing things she didn’t want to do, slapped her, and sexually assaulted her.” they stated through a tweet on Friday.
The victim had alerted the nightclub’s security staff to the assault, who had then reported it to the police.
Alves had refuted the charge, however it has been reported that the ex-Barcelona player has been sentenced to prison without bail.
