The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria has underscored the pivotal role of the Dangote Refinery in bolstering the country’s manufacturing value chain.
Highlighting its significance, the association noted that the refinery would serve as a dependable source of fuel and petrochemical products, which are crucial for enhancing capacity utilization and driving value addition in Nigeria’s industrial sector.
Speaking after a comprehensive tour of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, Petrochemical Complex, and Fertilizer Plant, the President of MAN, Francis Meshioye, called for concerted support from Nigerians and the government to ensure the refinery operates at its full potential.
He emphasized that such support would not only solidify the refinery’s operations but also encourage further investments in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.
Meshioye described the refinery as a transformative project for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
He commended its role in job creation, economic growth, and strengthening the nation’s energy security while reducing dependence on imports.
“The company has the capacity to produce all our needs locally, petroleum, and other similar products: no one would come to the facility and would not be inspired or encouraged to ensure that all the support that the company requires should be given to it,” Meshioye said, urging stakeholders to recognize the economic significance of the facility.
The refinery’s strategic importance extends beyond meeting Nigeria’s domestic needs.
According to Meshioye, surplus production from the facility will be exported, earning the country valuable foreign exchange and enhancing its trade balance.
“So, whichever way we look at it, the facility requires the government’s support to be able to operate optimally,” he added.
Meshioye also noted that the success of the Dangote Refinery serves as a beacon for Nigeria’s manufacturing sector.
“I believe that the success of the Dangote Refinery serves as an inspiration to all of us in the manufacturing sector,” he said, reflecting on the refinery’s potential to reshape industrial productivity in the country.
He further urged policymakers and stakeholders to prioritize initiatives like the Dangote Refinery, which he described as not just an industrial achievement but a national asset capable of redefining Nigeria’s economic trajectory.
