The Acting Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, in his maiden visit to the southwest zone, had enjoined customs operatives and sister Security Agencies at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Command to cultivate a strong network of intelligence and not to work in solitude for the benefit of the Nation.
EOM Intelligence reported that the Customs boss, who was received by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mohammed Gidado and senior officers of sister Security Agencies on Monday at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, further advised all to always create a good overall impression.
He said, “My advice is that we all must come together for the enhancement of National Security; our common goal and interest should bind us together. We must always show professionalism in all areas, there should not be room for rivalry, rather we should do things that will promote collaboration and cooperation so that we can enhance efficiency.”
Also, he tasked all Agencies at the airport to work in harmony in enhancing the car parking system for easy entry and exit. “When you look at the vehicles parked at areas with clear instruction of not to park, about eighty or ninety percent of them are for the personnel working here.
“The car park system must be taken as a priority for effective service delivery.”
While at the Murtala Muhammed Cargo Command, the Acting CGC was led on a tour around various facilities by the Comptroller of the Command, Comptroller Sani Yusuf. He also greeted Agencies within the environment.
Ag. CGC Adewale charged the Officers to aim for excellence, which is the hallmark of service delivery.
He urged them to be security conscious and work hard to rid the nation of illicit drugs, as the terminal is known to have intercepted a large volume of drugs in recent times.
On the clearance of goods, Adewale urged the Command to stand by the 24-hour clearance policy to aid trade facilitation. He also beckoned them to work in synergy with the terminal operators and other partner agencies while being diligent in the fight against arms smuggling.
