The Kwara State High Court in Ilorin, presided over by Justice Haleema Salman, is set to deliver its judgment today in the trial of five suspects linked to the infamous April 5, 2018, Offa bank robbery.
According to Tribune, the judgment, originally scheduled for August 2, 2024, was delayed due to a nationwide protest that month.
Six individuals were initially arrested in connection with the robbery, including a police officer, Michael Adikwu, who has since died while in custody.
The remaining five suspects—Ayoade Akinnibosun, Azeez Salahudeen, Niyi Ogundiran, Ibikunle Ogunleye, and Adeola Abraham—have pleaded not guilty.
At 9:14 a.m., Justice Salman commenced the reading of the judgment. Representing the prosecution is lead counsel Rotimi Jacob, while A.S. Abdullahi appeared on behalf of the defense in place of lead counsel Nathaniel Emeribe.
