A Kano State High Court, under the leadership of Chief Judge Justice Dije Aboki, reaffirmed on Thursday its interim order originally issued on September 13.
According to The PUNCH, the order continues to restrain the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, from undertaking any restructuring, refurbishing, or renovation work at the Nassarawa mini palace.
This restriction remains in place pending the hearing and final determination of the motion on notice.
The case stems from a request by the Kano State Government, along with two other applicants, who sought a court order to prevent the Emir from carrying out renovations at the mini palace.
The government and the applicants had approached the court to enforce the restriction until legal proceedings are resolved.
During the case’s resumption on Thursday for the hearing of the originating motion, the applicants’ counsel informed the court that the defendant had neither filed any legal documents nor sent representation to the court.
In response, Justice Aboki transferred the case to the Kano State High Court 15, now overseen by Justice Sanusi Ado Maaji, given that the judges had returned from their annual vacation.
Furthermore, she instructed that a hearing notice be served on the defendant to ensure the case progresses with all parties informed and involved.
