The Upper Area Court I in Ilorin, Kwara State, has dismissed a criminal complaint filed against Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Elizabeth Anjorin, popularly known as Lizzy Anjorin.
The case, which stemmed from a land dispute involving Saheed Mosadoluwa (Ibile) and Harmony Gardens and Estate Development Limited, saw legal representatives from both sides presenting their arguments.
Anjorin was defended by a legal team that included Prof. O. Y. Abdulhamid, I. M. Adedo, Taofeeq Olateju, and Abdullahi, while the complainant was represented by A. M. Abdulraheem.
However, the Kwara State Attorney General intervened, taking over the case and requesting its termination.
Presiding Judge Yunus Kayode ruled in favor of the Attorney General’s request, leading to the dismissal of both the initial complaint filed on February 26, 2025, and the counter-complaint filed on March 11, 2025.
“Having listened to the submissions from both legal counsels and considering the Attorney General’s application to take over the case and request its termination, the direct complaint dated February 24, 2025, and the cross-complaint dated March 11, 2025, are hereby terminated.
The defendants are discharged,” the judge ruled.
Speaking on the matter, Anjorin described the legal battle as a “cross-sue,” explaining that both she and the complainant ended up as defendants.
“The case was about a land dispute that happened in Lagos, but the complainant filed a criminal case against me in Ilorin, Kwara State. I presented my evidence and counter-sued, which made both of us defendants,” she said.
Anjorin further stated that after attending the court proceedings as required, she eventually withdrew the case she filed against the complainant.
“I was summoned on Friday based on his complaint, and I showed up. But when we counter-sued, he was also summoned on Tuesday, but he didn’t appear. When the court was set to continue with our case against him, I decided to withdraw it,” she explained.
She expressed gratitude to her legal team, supporters, and the Ilorin judiciary for their role in resolving the matter.
