A Chief Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Badagry, Lagos, on Tuesday arraigned a 41-year-old mechanic, Bebe Akapo, over theft of three cars.
The defendant, whose residential address is not disclosed, is being prosecuted on two counts of felony and stealing. He has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpe, the incident occurred on March 25 at No 8 Wale Ajose Street, Abule Era, Ilogbo, Lagos.
Ekpe explained that Akapo, in conjunction with accomplices who are still at large, allegedly committed the felony by stealing three cars.
“The defendant stole two Toyota Sienna space cars and one Toyota Camry car with registration numbers LSR 928 HE, KSF 497 EP, and SMK 373 FL belonging to Mr. Bashir Qudus, Yusuf Ganiyu, and Yusuf Bashiru, the complainants,” he said.
The alleged offense is in violation of sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrate N. A. Layeni has granted bail to the defendant, setting the amount at N1 million with three sureties of the same amount.
