The Popular Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci has reacted after her declaration and certification as the world record for the longest cooking marathon.
Baci who cooked for 100 hours, on Tuesday, was announced by the Guinness World Records as the latest record holder with 93 hours 11 minutes.
“Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes,” the organisation said.
According to the organisation, seven hours were deducted from her 100-hour stint “because mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt”.
“Hilda attempted to set a record of 100 hours, however, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt,” the organization added.
In her reaction to the development through her Twitter page, Baci who has been waiting for the confirmation since May, described the announcement as the best news she would ever receive.
“This is the best news ever omg omg omg thank you so much,” she wrote.
Baci, who took up the challenge in May, to break the record of 87 hours 45 minutes set by an Indian chef, Lata Tondon, in 2019, ended up cooking over 100 pots of food, during her 100 hours marathon that lasted for 4 days.
