The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who has led Nigeria’s judiciary for the past three years, will officially retire on Thursday, August 22, 2024.
He assumed the role following the resignation of his predecessor, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, due to health issues.

According to DailyPost,the Director of Information and Press for the Court,Dr. Festus Akande made the announcement.
Dr. Akande said the Supreme Court’s 2023/2024 legal year concluded on July 19, 2024, with the court beginning its vacation on July 22, 2024.
The court will resume for the 2024/2025 legal year on September 23, 2024, with a formal ceremony to inaugurate the new legal year scheduled for September 30, 2024.
The Supreme Court Complex in Abuja will host a Valedictory Court Session to honor Justice Ariwoola’s service.
