Chelsea FC has announced that their academy graduate, Michael Golding, has finalized a permanent move to Leicester City, a fellow Premier League team.
The Blues shared this news in a Sunday statement on their official website.
“The highlight of Golding’s season arrived in January, when he came off the bench towards the end of our FA Cup third round win against Preston North End at Stamford Bridge. His senior debut was deserved reward for many successful years in our Academy.
“We wish Michael the best of luck in the next chapter of his career and thank him for all his efforts during his time as Blue,” Chelsea’s statement read in part.
Golding, who joined Chelsea’s ranks as an Under-12, has been a standout player for their youth teams.
His notable performances at Chelsea also led to his selection for international duty, representing England from the Under-15 to Under-18 levels.
He captained the England squad in the Under-17 European Championship in the summer of 2023 and participated in the Under-17 World Cup later that year. Recently, he has played for the England Under-18s.
During the 2023/24 season, Golding made 21 appearances for Chelsea’s Under-21 team and was part of the squad that secured the southern section title of the Under-18 Premier League.
