Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, inevitably faced questions about the club’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen and Joao Felix ahead of his debut competitive match against Manchester City.
The Blues are still actively seeking to bolster their squad during a busy summer transfer window, which has already seen the arrival of 10 new players, including Pedro Neto, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Renato Veiga, Omari Kellyman, Caleb Wiley, Mike Penders, and Aaron Anselmino.
Following a last-minute collapse of a £34.5 million deal for Spain U-21 forward Samu Omorodion due to contract issues, Chelsea swiftly initiated talks for a surprising permanent return of Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, who previously spent time on loan at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are reportedly close to finalizing a £40 million agreement for Felix, a move that could pave the way for Conor Gallagher’s £33 million transfer to Atletico Madrid.
Maresca, addressing the potential of further additions to the squad, emphasized that the club understands his expectations for the transfer window.
Despite their already busy summer, Chelsea is intent on reinforcing their attacking options, with Joao Felix emerging as a key target following the failed Omorodion deal.
In addition, rumours have surfaced regarding a possible swap deal between Chelsea and Napoli for Victor Osimhen.
Chelsea is allegedly ready to offer two players plus an additional £39 million to secure the Nigerian striker, who is eager to depart Naples this summer.
Osimhen has expressed interest in a Premier League move, and Chelsea seems to be his likely destination after a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain fell through.
When questioned about the potential deals for Felix and Osimhen, Maresca commented, “The only thing I can say is they are not our players so it’s not correct to talk about a Napoli player or Atletico Madrid player.”
He further added, “The club knows exactly what I think in terms of what we need and hopefully before we finish the transfer window, we can bring in some players.”
