Chelsea are exploring options beyond Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, initiating discussions with Atletico Madrid for Samu Omorodion.
The 20-year-old, who was on loan at Alaves, netted nine goals in 35 matches. His transfer fee is estimated to exceed £30 million, a more affordable option for Chelsea compared to Duran.
Chelsea are actively pursuing a new centre-forward this summer and aim to offload Romelu Lukaku, who recently returned from his loan at Roma.
Sky Sport Italia’s transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Chelsea are prepared to invest heavily in Omorodion.
The young striker turned 20 in May and scored nine goals with one assist during his loan spell at Deportivo Alaves, making him a target for Roma and Napoli.
However, these clubs can’t match Chelsea’s financial power.
Milan’s interest, noted four days ago, depends on the success of their pursuit of Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee.
Atletico Madrid’s asking price for Omorodion is €40 million. Roma hoped for a loan with an option to buy, while Napoli could only make a move after selling Victor Osimhen.
If Osimhen departs, new Napoli coach Antonio Conte’s preferred replacement is Lukaku.
