Chelsea are reportedly close to finalizing a deal to sign Barcelona’s young talent Marc Guiu.
The 18-year-old striker made his debut for Barcelona’s senior team during the 2023-24 season, netting two goals in seven matches across various competitions.
Guiu first appeared under the management of Xavi against Athletic Bilbao in October 2023, where he scored with his second touch, securing a 1-0 victory.
Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has reported that Chelsea has already submitted a contract offer for Guiu and plans to activate the €6m release clause soon.
Romano detailed, “More on Marc Guiu. Contract proposal has been sent for Chelsea, not for Strasbourg as things stand; the project presented to Guiu is at Chelsea. Chelsea want to pay €6m clause and get it done soon.”
New Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is said to have spoken with Guiu multiple times, and the young striker is reportedly impressed by Chelsea’s focus on youth development.
He believes that the Premier League would complement his style of play, as noted by the Daily Mail.
Additionally, Chelsea recently announced the signing of another teenage prodigy, Estevao Willian from Palmeiras. The 17-year-old Brazilian will officially join the club next summer upon turning 18.
