A pastor of the Celestial Church of Christ, Ileri Oluwa Parish, LASU 2, Superintendent Evangelist Whepetoji Babaniyeh, has been arrested following the mysterious disappearance of a 28-year-old man, Ogunbode Quadri Adedamola.
Quadri, a graduate of the Political Science Education Department at Lagos State University , was last heard from on January 16, 2025.
Before his disappearance, he was managing his private business, Horlar Edu Consultancy, on the LASU campus.
According to his girlfriend, who has remained unnamed, Quadri had called her that day, informing her that he was outside the church and would call her back. That was the last time anyone heard from him.
A Facebook user, Gabriel, confirmed that Quadri was last seen near the church premises, aligning with his girlfriend’s account.
“He was last seen around the church premises, and since then, we have yet to hear from him. The police have arrested the pastor over the incident and have stated that investigations are ongoing,” Gabriel stated.
Another source revealed that police initially questioned Babaniyeh, who denied seeing Quadri on the day of his disappearance or having any knowledge of his whereabouts.
However, investigators later obtained the missing man’s bank records, uncovering a transfer of N1.5 million from Quadri’s account to the pastor’s account on the same day he went missing.
“When this prophet was asked, it was alleged that this prophet said that it was thanksgiving money that Quadri gave to him,” the source disclosed.
Further scrutiny of the bank records reportedly exposed additional transfers to the pastor’s child.
Investigators then intensified their search, leading to a horrifying discovery within the church premises.
“It was discovered that these people unlived (killed) Quadri, cut some parts of his body, and buried the remaining inside the church compound. The police went into action and in the process, more was discovered,” another source revealed.
“The shepherd’s son was involved in this issue.”
Some reports claim that Quadri’s remains were exhumed from the church grounds, further deepening the controversy surrounding the pastor’s alleged involvement.
The police investigation remains ongoing.
