The Canadian singer and songwriter, Gordon Lightfoot is dead at the age of 84.
According to a report by CNN, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” crooner was said to have passed away on Monday at about 7:30 p.m. at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, according to his spokesperson, Victoria Lord.
Lightfoot who was said to have died of natural causes had cancelled his 2023 US and Canada concert which was supposed to hold April 11 due to health related issues.
Prior to his death, he has garnered four grammy awards and made the top chart with his song, “If You Could Read My Mind” in 1970.
He reached No. 2 on the Billboard charts with his 1976 ballad about the sinking of a Great Lakes cargo ship, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”
