The Christian Association of Nigeria on Monday led protests over continuous killings in Plateau State and other parts of the country.
According to The PUNCH, the ongoing protest tagged “Plateau Peace Walk”, is being led by the state CAN chairman, Rev Polycarp Lubo, ECWA President, Rev Dr Stephen Baba Panya, COCIN President, Rev Dr Amos Mohzo, Bishop of Methodist church, Jos; Rev Nkechi Nwosu; President, Gideon and Funmi-ParaMallam Peace Foundation, Rev. Dr Gideon ParaMallam among other prominent Christian leaders in the state.
The protesters started the peace walk at the PRTVC Roundabout in Jos and headed to the Rayfield Government House to register their disapproval of the current security situation.
The police command in Plateau says eight suspects have been arrested over the recent killings in Plateau state.
Plateau police spokesperson, Alfred Alabo said normalcy has been restored to the communities affected by the attacks.
Protesting women had allegedly burned down the house of the traditional ruler of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, Micheal Monday Adanchi.
It was learnt that the traditional ruler is also the District Head of Bokkos town.
On Christmas Eve, over 150 people were killed in 17 communities in Bokkos, Barkin-Ladi, and Mangu LGAs of Plateau state.
The violent attacks snowballed to Christmas and Boxing Day.
