The Super Falcons of Nigeria have been honored as the Women’s Team of the Year at the CAF 2023 Awards, a testament to their impressive display during the earlier World Cup tournament.
Despite a valiant effort, Nigeria’s courageous women exited the competition in the round of 16, succumbing to England in a penalty shootout following a goalless draw in regular and extra time.
Leading up to their defeat, the Super Falcons maintained an undefeated streak in their three group stage matches.
They held Olympic champions Canada to a draw, surprised co-hosts Australia, and secured a point against the Republic of Ireland.
