A popular pastor of the Church of Christ in Nations, Geidam, Yobe State, Luka Levong, has been killed by members of the terrorists group, Boko Haram.
According to The PUNCH, he was killed in the early hours of Friday, January 5, 2023.
Residents interviewed by journalists on Friday reported that the assailants initiated their assault on the region at approximately 2 am that same day.
The attack also tragically resulted in the demise of Maina Abdullahi, the church’s treasurer.
Eyewitnesses detailed that the perpetrators not only set fire to numerous houses but also targeted a church during their onslaught.
Subsequently, the bodies have been removed and transported to the Specialist Hospital in Geidam.
Upon contact by journalists, the Yobe State Police Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim, mentioned that he lacks comprehensive details regarding the incident.
He said, “Geidam is a frontline area in the war against insurgency and the Nigerian military should be contacted.”
