Just five days after being acquitted of rape and attempted rape charges, Benjamin Mendy, the former Manchester City defender, has swiftly resumed his football career.
Mendy, 28, was accused of sexually assaulting two women at his £4 million property, only to be freed by a jury at Chester Crown Court last week after three hours of deliberation.
After a court decision in January, the France international was exonerated of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
And five days after being cleared as a free man, Mendy has already returned to football after signing a two-year deal with Lorient.
The move has been confirmed by Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano, who tweeted on Wednesday, “𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆: Benjamin Mendy signs two year deal at Lorient and returns to football!
“Former Man City LB signs until 2025 as he was found “not guilty” by Chester Crown Court last week.”
