The Bauchi State Police Command has constituted an investigation committee to unravel the circumstances leading to the murder of an 18-month-old boy, Muhammad Musa Abideen.
This was made known in a statement issued on Thursday by the Command Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, disclosing that the remains of the deceased were dumped at a soak-away situated in the Games Village area of the Bauchi metropolis by the suspected ritualists.
The Command noted that it has set up an investigative committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Yakubu Mohammed to thoroughly investigate the murder of the little child.
The State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed ordered the immediate closure of the school on Wednesday where Musa’s corpse was found with some of his vital organs removed by suspected ritualists.
An investigation carried out by the police revealed that the toddler was with his mother, Saudatu Abideen ‘f’, aged 21 years, of Bakin Kura Street in Bauchi metropolis when he went missing on August 19, 2023.
Wakili further said that the corpse of the little child had been buried by his parents.
The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad to have “condemned the ruthless and terrible act exhibited by the anonymous men of the underworld, promising to trace and clampdown on the perpetrators to allow the law to take its course.”
The CP said the command was already addressing those suspected to be responsible for the gruesome murder of the little child, while promising to leave no stone unturned until the victim gets justice.
