The Bauchi State Government has unveiled plans for an extensive renovation of the National Youth Service Corps camp located in Wailo village, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.
According to The PUNCH, State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed announced this initiative during a tour to evaluate the camp’s current condition on Tuesday.
The tour highlighted the camp’s severe deterioration, which has persisted for a significant period.
Mohammed voiced his concerns about the substandard facilities and infrastructure, which have impeded the effective operation of the NYSC programme within the state.
He stated, “Given the importance of the NYSC scheme in promoting national unity and development, the rehabilitation of the camp is crucial in providing a conducive environment for corps members to undergo their orientation and training.”
The planned renovation will encompass building refurbishments, infrastructure upgrades, and the installation of modern amenities.
“This project will be completed in record time to ensure that the corps members enjoy a comfortable and productive stay at the camp,” the governor assured.
He added that this rehabilitation effort is part of the state government’s broader strategy to enhance the welfare of corps members and support the NYSC scheme alongside youth development and national service.
The state coordinator of the scheme, Mrs. Rifkatu Daniel, expressed gratitude, stating, “The rehabilitation of the camp will not only benefit corps members but also contribute to the economic growth of the local community, as the project will create jobs, stimulate local economic activity, and enhance the overall development of the area.”
