Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has disclosed the release of N130 million to the state organising committee of the 39th edition of the State Qur’anic Recitation Competition.
The funding, described as a gesture to foster the memorization and recitation of the Qur’an among the youth, underscores the government’s commitment to promoting Islamic education.
Governor Mohammed, represented by Abubakar Sulaiman, Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, emphasized the state’s notable contributions to the history of Qur’anic recitation competitions in Nigeria.
“Bauchi State has a proud legacy of excellence in Qur’anic recitation competitions, both nationally and internationally,” he stated. “This is why we are committed to sustaining support for such programs to inspire current and future generations.”
He encouraged participants to view their engagement as more than a contest, highlighting the spiritual rewards of Qur’anic memorization and recitation. The governor also expressed his hope for a smooth and successful event.
Hassan Zango, Chairman of the State Qur’anic Recitation Competition Committee, praised the governor for his continued support. He assured attendees that the committee was committed to fairness and transparency in evaluating participants.
“We are dedicated to ensuring the competition maintains its integrity, enabling Bauchi State to uphold its reputation of excellence at national and international levels,” Zango said.
Participants from the state’s 20 local government areas will compete across six categories during the event, with the aim of identifying outstanding reciters who will represent Bauchi State in higher-level competitions.
