The Primeira Liga side initially took the lead through Brazilian winger Pepe Aquino in the 30th minute after several attempts against Barcelona’s goalkeeper Inaki Pena.
Despite the setback, Barcelona swiftly responded. Joao Cancelo, on loan from Manchester City, equalized just two minutes later, showcasing skill against fellow Portuguese player Joao Mario before scoring past Porto’s goalkeeper Diogo Costa.
Cancelo then turned provider, setting up Joao Felix in the 57th minute, who scored his first goal since September after an intricate play between the two Portuguese players.
With this win, Barcelona confirmed their place in the Champions League last 16, marking their return to this stage of Europe’s elite club competition for the first time since Messi’s departure in 2021.
