Bangladesh’s army chief Waker-Uz-Zaman said Monday he will form an interim government following the resignation of Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, who had fled the capital in the face of overwhelming protests.
According to the AFP, faced with escalating protests, Hasina fled the capital, prompting the military’s intervention to stabilize the situation.
“We will form an interim government,” Waker stated in his broadcast to the nation.
