Arsenal have set their sights on Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley as they seek to find a replacement for Aaron Ramsdale ahead of the upcoming season.
According to The Athletic, the Gunners have initiated discussions with Wolves regarding the potential transfer of Bentley.
The shot-stopper joined Wolves from Bristol City in January 2023. Arsenal’s interest comes amidst speculation linking Ramsdale with a departure from the club this summer.
Despite making only eight appearances for Wolves last season across all competitions, Bentley is considered a pivotal figure in the squad.
Wolves are reluctant to part ways with him unless presented with a significant offer.
Arsenal have secured David Raya on a permanent deal David Raya from Brentford for a reported fee of £30m, $38m following a successful loan spell last season, but the future of Aaron Ramsdale remains uncertain.
The England international is expected to pursue a transfer once he returns from the European Championship, especially with Raya firmly established as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Regarding his permanent move, Raya stated earlier this week, “After a year on loan as a Gunner, I can finally say that I’m an Arsenal player for the coming years.”
Raya, who initially arrived on loan last summer, emerged as Arteta’s first-choice goalkeeper at the Emirates Stadium.
“I’m excited to see what the future holds but always living in and enjoying the present,” Raya expressed. “It’s a dream come true to be here and I want to thank you for all the support you have already given me throughout the last year.”
Sporting Director Edu added, “We are so happy to have completed the deal to sign David from Brentford. He had a beautiful first season with us, winning the Premier League Golden Glove. He is a talented international, a great professional, and a popular figure at the club. We benefited from all of this last season during his loan with us.”
Arsenal are gearing up for pre-season training next week and have scheduled friendly matches against Manchester United and Liverpool during their tour of the US later this month.
