The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has directed an immediate investigation into complaints concerning the inadequate feeding of troops stationed on the frontline in the North-East region, where they are engaged in combat against insurgency.
In an official statement released on Tuesday by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, it was affirmed that Lt. Gen. Lagbaja regards these complaints with utmost seriousness.
The statement also emphasized that, under his leadership, the Army prioritizes the welfare and well-being of its personnel.
The public and all Army personnel have been assured that a thorough investigation will be carried out to ascertain the veracity of the complaints and identify any areas in need of improvement in the troops’ feeding arrangements.
“It is crucial to point out to the general public that the welfare of troops under the present leadership of the NA takes a premium place amongst other important schemes and considerations as it is one of the vital pillars of the COAS Command Philosophy, which is to provide ‘sound administration’ to ensure a highly motivated force.
“The NA, therefore, takes these allegations very seriously and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has directed immediate investigation into the complaints to ascertain their veracity and unravel the circumstances.
“The NA wishes to assure the public and all NA personnel that a thorough investigation will be conducted to get to the bottom of these claims.”
