The Nigerian military has declared Halilu Buzu, a suspected terrorist and illegal arms supplier, wanted.
According to Channels, the declaration was made by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Operations at the Defence Media Operations, during a bi-weekly media briefing in Abuja.
Halilu Buzu, a native of Niger State, is alleged to be hiding in a forest in Zamfara State and is known to escape to the Niger Republic after carrying out attacks in Nigeria.
The military is working with its counterparts from the Niger Republic to ensure his arrest.
In addition to declaring Buzu wanted, the military also announced that it had rescued 253 kidnapped victims in the past two weeks.
The feat was achieved by the Troops of Operations Y-Watch, Nokia-Fighting Patrols, and Operations Delta State.
Furthermore, the military neutralized 227 terrorists and arrested 529 others. Eleven oil theft perpetrators were also arrested during the period under review.
Speaking further, Buba also said that the troops neutralised 227 and arrested 529 terrorists. Eleven perpetrators of oil theft were also arrested in the weeks under review.
“We relentlessly target these categories of terrorists such that we will be able to take them out, and take them off battle field as soon as possible.
“Soon, the fate of such terrorists will be decided. It will be violent and it will be short, and will stop at nothing to take them off the battle field,” he said.
General Buba emphasized that the fight against terrorism must be won and that the military will relentlessly target terrorists to take them off the battlefield as soon as possible.
