The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has assured that Bello Turji, a notorious bandit leader operating in Zamfara State, will soon be neutralized.
According to The PUNCH, Oluyede emphasized that security forces are relentlessly pursuing Turji and other criminal elements in the region.
“Bello Turji is currently on the run, and wherever he goes, we will track him. Let him keep running—it is only a matter of time before he is taken out,” the army chief stated.
Highlighting recent military successes, Oluyede revealed that several high-profile bandit leaders had been eliminated in recent months.
“In the last few months, we have taken down notorious figures like Samaila, Boga, and Boderi. All of them have been neutralized,” he said.
He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to restoring peace in Zamfara and the broader North-West region, assuring that operations against banditry would persist.
“We will not relent. Our troops are actively pursuing these criminals to ensure that the North-West is safe for all,” Oluyede added.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by security forces, he expressed confidence in their ability to overcome them with continued support from Nigerians.
“We urge citizens to collaborate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information,” he appealed.
Oluyede’s visit to Zamfara, his first since assuming office on October 30, 2024, comes as security forces intensify efforts to combat banditry and other threats in the region.
