Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya, decried the upsurge in the activities of terrorists/bandits in some parts of the country.
Daily Trust quoted Yahaya as saying that the upsurge has led to the loss of lives and material resources from the devastating attacks on rail lines, commuter roads, and villages.
The CoAS said this at the second quarter 2022 veterans affairs seminar organized by the Department of Administration, Army Headquarters, yesterday in Kaduna, adding that under his supervision, the Army will keep reviewing its operation for effective engagements against these terrorists.
The Chief of Administration (Army), Major General Usman Mohammed, representing COAS at the event, called for the support of army veterans in their various communities.
He emphasized that synergy between retired and serving personnel of the Army and the Nigerians at large will better help reduce the activities of these enemies of the state.
A former Commander, Corps of Supply and Transportation, Major General Abubakar Gana, a special guest of honour at the event, tasked the Nigerian Armed Forces to tackle weakness in the system to fight against insecurity facing the country.
GOC, 1 Division, Major General Kabir Muhktar, said the seminar’s purpose was to leverage the veterans’ experience in furtherance of the Nigerian Army operations, particularly insecurity.
