Social media influencer and Medical doctor, Chinonso Egemba, popularly known as Aproko Doctor, has revealed that he had a brief battle with a brain tumour in December 2022.
Aproko Doctor disclosed this via his Instagram page on Monday, stating that he was diagnosed on December 5 and was partially blind in one eye due to the tumour.
Egemba shared how he had to undergo surgery to remove the brain tumour.
He wrote, “Throughout December of 2022, I was fighting for my life. I went blind in one eye on the 3rd of Dec. 2022 & on the 5th, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
“Today I stand here before you to share my story. It has been a long road to recovery but each day is better than the last.
“It was so bad that I couldn’t read out of my phone anymore, to the point where this (left) eye, I couldn’t see with it and it was also closing.
“They said okay! It’s Craniopharyngioma and we need to remove it and I started laughing.
“I was laughing because I could remember the exact time in class or as a medical student where they were teaching us the point of craniopharyngioma and how it can affect your vision, and this was it happening to me,” he said.
However, the doctor who appeared to have recovered from the surgery was full of appreciation to everyone who supported his through the journey.
“I want to say I’m thankful to everybody, I would not have come out of this without their support,” he said as he introduced a new health talk show.
He added, “Unclog with Aproko Doctor is going to be that entire series. We’re going to be talking to you, talking about your own perspective and so that other people can learn from you and other people cannot feel stigmatized.”
