Barely 24 hours after a CNG-laden tanker overturned near Karu Bridge on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway, another truck carrying fertilizer was involved in an accident at the same location.
The incident, which happened around 3:54 p.m. on Thursday, involved a fertilizer-laden truck colliding with a Hijet and a dump truck, commonly known as a tipper. Fortunately, no lives were lost.
Confirming the development, the Head of Public Affairs at the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department, Nkechi Isa, urged motorists to exercise caution.
“Another accident has occurred under Karu Bridge along the Abuja-Keffi Expressway. Thankfully, no life was lost,” Isa said in a statement. “Our search and rescue team confirmed that a truck carrying fertilizer crashed into a Hijet and a dump truck.”
She also assured that efforts were underway to remove the affected vehicles to prevent a traffic jam.
“The Federal Road Safety Corps is taking steps to tow away the affected vehicles in order to avoid traffic buildup,” she added.
Videos from the scene showed bystanders assisting in clearing fertilizer bags from the road to ease congestion.
