A security outfit in Anambra State has reportedly announced plans to arrest women seen in public without bras or panties, sparking widespread reactions online.
The declaration, made via a public address system, was captured in a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.
In the footage, an official of the security outfit, speaking in Igbo, claimed that the directive was issued by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
He also stated that women wearing only panties in public would be arrested.
However, the Anambra State Government has yet to release an official statement addressing the announcement.
The development has drawn criticism from various quarters, including former Kaduna State Senator Shehu Sani, who questioned the practicality of enforcing such a directive.
“Anambra’s Bra and Pant law; I don’t know if the Pant law is applicable to men,” Sani wrote in a post on X. “And how can the security outfit verify ladies’ compliance?”
