He confirmed that the state government will implement a new minimum wage of ₦80,000 starting from November 1, 2024. Additionally, pensions for retirees will see a boost of ₦32,000 per month.
James stated, “Following the signing of the New Minimum Wage Agreement on December 3, 2024, between the Government of Akwa Ibom and Organized Labour, we notify workers that the State Government has agreed to pay ₦80,000 as directed by Governor Eno.
“Since November 2024 salaries have already been paid, the differential arrears will be settled on or before the end of February 2025. December 2024 salaries will reflect the agreed new wage.”
